As a life long aficionado of the sea and sailing I was super excited to visit Rotterdam a city that is synonymous with the sea. Rotterdam is mostly known for its world famous harbour which is the biggest of the world until 2004 and now is still the biggest in Europe.

I had the pleasure to visit some nautical heritage at the national maritime museum. Old cargoships, crane’s, grain sucktion barges and so on. What made the experience extra great was that the retired captains were at hand to answer all kinds of nautical questions. Amazing to see the passion of these volunteers, makes me appreciate it even more.
